I was super excited when I found this site. I'm a new rider and did not want the big bulky riding pants, I needed something I could ride in and go directly to work. The first pair were a little small; but the exchange process was easy. Unfortunately, the second pair I received there are some quality control issues. The button hole is poorly sew as well as the small inside pocket (the small knife pocket inside the left front pocket). When paying $300.00, I expect a little better QC. Also when you offer a free belt with every pay of Journeymen, put the belt in the box, no code should be needed.
I absolutely love my Journeymen's in Sand - they're soft, not stuffy (important on those super hot days here in Texas), and look like normal pants, so I can wear them anywhere and not look or feel like I don't belong there. I have a pair of riding jeans from another company that have full padding, which is great, don't get me wrong... but I feel like a firefighter pulling those suckers on. They're heavy, hot, and bulky, and I remove them immediately when I get home. The Journeymen's, on the other hand... I've gotten in from riding and forgotten that I was still wearing "riding gear." The 36 length isn't an issue, if you were concerned. They look great cuffed, too. Alternatively, you can get them tailored if it's really dragging on ya.
Yes, there are cheaper riding pants. However, the quality and style of these pants are second to none. I purchased the green pair. The hardware on these pants are stylish as well as the fit and cut. My only gripe is that these run a bit larger than expected in the waist. The length is accurate, but if you cuff em they look nice! I wear a 34 in levis and wranglers so my thought process was to size up an inch due to the added protection. I was wrong. I measured myself and everything prior to ordering and was in between 34 and 35. Other than that, I dont regret the purchase. Word to future buyers, purchase your regular size or even an inch smaller. Do that, and you'll find yourself wearing these everyday even when you're not riding.
I am 6'1" @ 150lbs, and I usually wear a 30x36 in Levi's in shrink to fit to get a length that actually fits me. If I wear 34's they're too a little too short - shrink to fit or not. The Journeymen's that I have are 32x36, and fit better than any pair of pants I've found before. They're just big enough in the waist to tuck in or to carry in the waistband, and they fall at the perfect length at my ankles. They dont get too short on the bike, and they allow the perfect amount of breeze through the legs. They feel very durable and they have a very nice weight. The lining is super comfortable and not bulky at all. The only thing I didnt like about them is the slimness at the ankles because I can't put them over my boots, but it's absolutely not a deal breaker. They still fit phenomenally! Maybe now Tobacco can come out with some crazy casual protective shoe that fits with all of their other products, too, and they become the Walmart of motorcycle protective wear! The quality is top notch, and you cannot beat being handmade in the USA. This is my first pair, but will absolutely not be my last. I was hesitant at the price, but these were a gift and after owning this pair, I can justify spending the money even though they are quite a bit more than Levi's. Now, I cant see myself buying another pair of my previously favorite jeans ever again.
I bought a pair a couple of weeks ago. I tired them on and the fit was just right. After wa3ring around the house for 30 minutes they felt more comfortable. I'm 6'3 215 lbs with a 34 inseam. I purchased 1 size up. A little long when standing but perfect when on the bike. I'm very pleased with my purchase and is worth the cost, I also purchased the California riding shirt. Great as well. I'm about to order the vest and I pre ordered the new back pack. I'm a fan. Thank you for being Made in the USA. Another reason I bought your brand.
Upon opening my package i was impressed with the feel of the material and you can tell they are quality. The jeans are comfortable but the problem i have is with the sizing. I wear a 34 inseam and these pants are supposedly 36. But the jeans i received are insanely long, easily 5-6 inches longer than my normal jeans. I was going to just return them, come to find out i must pay return shipping and on top of that lose $30 for a restocking fee. I almost feel cheated for losing money after trying an online product. With the price of $300 i expected this "36" inch seam to be a little more accurate.
Just received my Journeyman Sand riding pants today. So this is a first impression/first wear review. Comfortable! Comfortable! And did I mention comfort? So I love my Tobacco Selvdge denim riding jeans. My go to jeans for everyday. That said, like all well made selvedge denim jeans, they take some wear and time to feel good. Not so with the journeyman pants. Fit is dead on...to be fair, I already knew my size from my jeans. But they are super soft and supple right off. I am off work today and running around on my Onewheel, in seattle. Not a warm day - Mid to high 50's. But these will be super comfortable as the temperatures rise. Love the additional pocket on right thigh. Coin/knife pocket is on left front - little weird for me. But I will adapt. Only thing I would ask; include a set of laces for the waist. You include the loops already. Might as well. Any ways, nice job again from the design team at Tobacco. I will follow up in a few months with a durability review.
