Classic and beautifully simple, the Extra Mile Backpack is a heritage quality everyday bag, with a touch of contemporary design. After thousands of miles of riding, countless commutes, and more trips than we can remember—we are proud to offer a pack you can count on for years of service.
It's in the details:
This heavy duty, waxed canvas pack features a drawstring opening and cover flap to keep everything you need inside - and out of the elements. Full grain leather straps with functional brass buckles create the refined and rustic feel of traditional Swiss military rucksacks - while heavy-duty ring snap closures give you convenient access to your things. Extra-wide, fully adjustable shoulder straps disperse the weight of your bag while shoulder load adjusters give you a customizable carry profile that makes the bag fit your body for all-day comfort.

So far just got the rally pack but it’s already feeling very nice and durable. Doesn’t feel heavy when I’m carrying groceries or simply a few things for work. Will buy more products in the future
I usually go on small weekend trips in which I may spend the night in a hotel along the coast and this backpack is incredible in holding an extra set of clothes (& unmentionables). Very comfortable to wear while riding, roaming around and very easy to take on and off throughout the day. The backpack also seems to come up in conversations when I meet other riders. I am not a person that usually shows off but.... hey! Yet another great product from Tobacco! Dean J. 2019 Fat Boy 114 San Jose, CA
Strapped this baby to the back of my bike for a trip to Vegas and I couldn’t be happier. The materials used and attention to detail are second to none. As soon as I hit the strip I was getting non stop compliments. The pockets are well thought out and everything fits with ease. Pair it with the duffel to make it seem like you have your life together. Highly recommend.
Was hesitant because of the high price tag, but let me tell you, this bag is the best. I don’t go anywhere without it. I get constant complements on it, and I have not had a problem with it. If you’ve got the money, the backpack is well worth the purchase.
I am very happy with it. It ia very comfortable.
I was excited about pack animal after having some experience with the quality and workmanship of some tobacco motorwear products, so I backed the extra mile bag on Kickstarter only to be disappointed when it and the duffle arrived. The bags feel cheap from top to bottom, and the leather in particular feels thin and weak. A couple full loads, a couple weekend trips, and I'm sure they'll start failing. These bags simply don't come close to measuring up to Filson or other high-end products at their price point. While low quality products are frustrating, the even bigger problem I had was with customer service. Jeremy was obtuse in his messages, needed prompting to provide even basic information, and then was a full week late processing the refund (during which time he also didn't answer my emails requesting a status update). I'm finished with Pack Animal and Tobacco Motorwear after this poor experience.
I so want to love this bag, but it just isn't fitting my needs. It's clunky putting things in it and just doesn't have the organization. It's beautifully crafted, looks great, but just too small to be useful for me.
I havent used it yet but im confident ill be happy with it when i do. I bought the matching duffle and i LOVE that one. These bags/packs are built to last for sure!! Totally recommend pack animal products (i bought the coat too lol)
The bag seems tough as nails. The heavy canvas will obviously be durable. I got the camo version with matching duffel bag (also small and lean) and it looks great. It is a 20 liter bag so it is small but great as a basic day or book bag. Since it is such thick canvas don't expect it to stretch. The rip stop interior lining is nice and the exterior back pocket is great for sliding a note book or small items into and keeping them handy. The exterior pockets look sleek but I wish they were a bit larger. I can barely fit some standard sized bottles and travel coffee mug. Putting anything rigid in the pockets will displace that volume inward and reduce interior bag volume. The leather and brass looks great. My main wish would be to change the back pack's shoulder straps. They are naked leather without any bolstering or padding. They leave something wanting for sure. I am going to purchase/make some leather bolsters for them for sure. An adjustable across the chest strap would have been nice as well and allow for carrying heavier items with more comfort and less shifting of the pack. The leather and canvas should wear nicely and I look forward to beating this bag up on adventures.
It's clearly a well sorted rucksack. Made very traditionally, and built to last. I have a feeling this bag can take a lifetimes worth of wear, and then some more. Heavy duty waxed canvas, the lack of any plastic fittings is a welcomed break from typical mass produced bags. It's evident that every detail of this bag was considered carefully. Surprisingly roomy, larger on the inside than it appears. The naked leather shoulder straps are a little odd for a bag of this quality, but suspect they'll break in nicely after some use. Overall, a great pack. Nice work Pack Animal.
