An advanced, patented polymer, CE-ratedD3O® impact protectors are the latest advancement in protective armor. D3O® impact protectors utilize intelligent molecules that lock together on impact. Because of this, the impact protector can be made thinner and lighter, making a jacket more comfortable and easier to wear. However, this decreased size does not come at the expense of impact protection.

Easy to fit armor. Great added security while riding.
This is my second purchase from Tobacco well done guys , great customer service. First was a riding shirt I love it. Been riding around 55 years both road and dirt. The McCoys over all fit for siting on the bike is perfect with the short main zipper, No pinching in the crotch like my leather coat. Dont even notice the full armor when installed in the coat . Rides well on the bike no flapping or kinking. I usually wear a extra large . The fit is snug in the shoulders and upper arms but Ok. I would have liked to try a XXL just to see the difference. Look forward to putting the coat to test.
D30 armor has worked well in other products I've used and in the Defiant hoodie it's a perfect compliment to the look and fit. I've had to unfortunately use the armor (in a previous product) and it performed well! No broken bones.
Men's Defiant Hoodie - Sand - Medium Rider: Male, 5'8.5" 186lbs Street and ADV/Enduro riding. Tl;Dr Overall its a nice functional piece of gear that is reasonably comfortable but has some issues Great idea, fills a niche we need to see more of. Tight cut in the arms, wide in the body, bulky, odd hood zipper and pit zips don't work very well. More Info The shell is nice looking, bulkier and warmer than I was initially expecting due to the kevlar lining. It does not fit like a technical soft shell. When I got it, I tried it on with a sweatshirt on and without armor. I could tell right away that it was going to be too tight in the arms for me. I'm not a bulky with muscle or anything but once I put armor in to the arms I couldn't wear any layers it is are too tight. The body is more "American Cut" in that it has a fuller chest and belly area so it surprised me that the sleeves were do narrow and that is also why I can't go up a size. The body would fit like a circus tent on me if I went with a large. The armor fits well and is held in a good functional position though I haven't taken it on any long rides yet to assess if I'll get any hot spots from the D3O. The zipper is weird though. It goes way to high as if they wanted the top of the zip to be at your nose or eye level which means there is not secure place for the zipper to rest at your collar bone or the base of your neck. Instead you have a lot of flapping, zippered material around your face and a v gap to let air in. Great if it's balmy, not great if it's chilly. The dual pit zips, so far, also fall short of expectations. I love the idea of the large opening and one hand operation with the two pulls tethered together. However, the soft shell material doesn't provide enough support against and so instead of actually moving the zippers, I've always ended up just tugging on the jacket until I take my gloves off and, using two hands, operate each single zipper at a time. I do like the jacket but because of all the little problematic things, I don't think it will get much use. Probably only for fall, forest road/back road adventures, where I can feel comfortable taking some of the armor out to improve the fit and where the funky zippers won't be a problem. I probably would not have bought if I had tried it on first, but it's not bad enough to return.
This jacket is to my surprise extremely flexible and shaped to my body perfectly without too much bulk. I love it.
Although I got it a bit too late in the season to use it, the quality of workmanship is second to none and I see no reason I won’t love it even more once I get to ride with it ( I live in Canada and it’s winter now, hence why it hasn’t seen the open road yet)
Wonderful- and very impressed with all the products I bought. These plates are comfortable and simply to install/remove- my new fav riding brand!!
The set was the best decision. The fit is amazing. I don’t even feel them in my riding shirt. I know if I need them they are there. Cheaper than a copay for am emergency visit!!
The California Riding Shirt was my first purchase of riding gear outside of the essentials (gloves, helmet) and I couldn't have been happier! That is until the weather shifted to fall. I knew I had to purchase something heavier, and I wanted additional protection since I am a new rider. That is when I chose the McCoy with the D30 armor. Immediately upon receiving the McCoy and armor I knew I had made the correct choice. The waxed canvas is obviously durable & TOUGH, and the armor is strong but very thin, adding to the comfort of the jacket. I have received multiple compliments about the jacket, with some people not even realizing it is an armored riding jacket!
Just received the full D3 armor with my new McCoy jacket. I couldn't be happier with both. The armor is very discreet. Fits perfectly into the jacket. I feel totally protected without being bulky or feeling like a linebacker from the '80s. Armor and jackets will only protect you if you wear them and you won't wear them if you're uncomfortable. This jacket and armor combo are stylish, comfortable and cool! dre
