I've had a hard time finding riding jeans that don't make me look like I'm wearing my dad's pants. Skinny jeans are always way too big in the thigh and calf area, so wearing something intentionally loose is the answer. These are amazing. I initially ordered a 28 based on my measurements, but they are a bit snug around the waist, so I'm sizing up to a 30. I don't want them too tight when I'm riding. I'm 5'6", 130 lbs, and I carry most of my extra weight around my waist. The quality and style of these are perfection.
I have yet to find a pair of protective jeans that has the long inseams I need, so I contacted Tobacco and they recommended the Boondocks. With a 35" inseam I'm beyond thrilled. I thought they may be stiff and take some time to break-in, but was really impressed when they were comfy right out of the package and stretchy when I jumped on my bike. So not just fitting great off the bike. I love overalls, but was a little hesitant to get the kevlar ones. Now I'm sold and happy to wear them everywhere! Great pair of jeans, comfortable and gives me the peace of mind that if I go down there will be something to protect me from road rash that still looks super cool.
I feel bad giving such a low rating so let me start by saying: any interactions I've had with the employees of Tobacco have been five star. The exchange process was easy, and when doing the returns process it was basically no questions asked. I'm literally across the country so the time between exchanges took as long as it took and they always sent products back in a priority post marked package. First pair was missing hardware for the shoulder claps and had dubious finishing; lots of sloppy seams. Happens, right? Second pair had a mis-struck snap back on the chest pocket (snap not attached or attachable) and the tolerances on the hip buttons where so bad they wouldnt stay shut. Okay then. Third pair was the pair I ended up keeping but I have already spent time fixing blown out seams and cleaning up messy finishing around the zippers. There is more stitching I need to redo on critical areas like belt loops and waist line. Just really not the quality advertised or expected. So disappointed I'm not sure I'll ever buy again from this company, and I wanted to believe in them so badly.
Perfect fit, super comfy on or off the bike. For reference I'm 5'4 and 140lbs, and got the size 28 which is 1 size larger than what I'd be with the given measurements. I was hesitant about buying at first due to the cost, and ended up getting them during a sale. Ended up being a great investment. Only issue was one of the buttons came detached, but customer service sent me 2 new ones the next day. Easy fix. I highly recommend these! Quality and customer service is superb.
I saved up to get a pair of these and was very particular about using the size chart and measurements to order - unfortunately, I leaned toward the waist/hip measurement over the thigh and had to send them back because they wouldn't fit over my legs. I ordered 2 sizes up, based on the thigh measurement and they fit great. I was also a little disappointed that the sale ($50 off) which prompted me to pull the plug, meant they didn't send the armor. Safety is a big priority for me in what I buy to wear on my bike so I *might* have made a different choice since one of the reasons I was saving for these was the included armor. Overall I will be keeping these and took them for their inaugural ride today! For reference, I'm 5'8", 200lbs and shaped like a tall tube. haha. :-)
I bought these when they were on sale ($50 off) not realizing that they wouldn't come with the armor! I chose them over another brand specifically for the option to use armor with these so that was sad. I was drooling over them for weeks since I love riding in overalls and really wanted something safer than Levi's. They fit pretty well, though the Velcro for the hip pouches is a little wonky and creates a bit of bunchiness when sitting, that feature is definitely in need of either nixing or an upgrade. I'm 5'3 135 athletic build ordered a 30 and if you are athletic with strong legs I recommend paying VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to the thigh measurements. They came very close to not fitting me, the next size up would have been too big everywhere else so I just got lucky! They are long but I like that about them and just roll them up. I will definitely use them and I love them, but there were a few minor disappointments which is sad when you save up for weeks to make a big purchase.
I loved these since the day I saw them! My first purchase from Tobacco as I had a hard time justifying the price for these. They were sold out in my size but I could not stop thinking about them. I checked every single day to see if they had them in my size. I finally ordered them and they were sold out later that day! They came quick. They fit almost perfectly. I'm about 5'4 and 125 lbs. and preferred a 26. They are a bit tight on my thighs but I have a big butt for someone my size. If I got a size up they would be way too big up top. I LOVE how comfy they are and the armor is so easy to put in/remove because of the external zippered pockets (way easier to adjust than my GoGo leggings). I am excited to be wearing these all summer!
Let me start by saying customer service is great! Quick replies and positive attitudes. I'm 5'3 and 160lbs. I originally ordered the size 30 thinking they would be large enough to wear a base layer underneath for winter riding. So wrong! I measured twice before ordering. I'm a thick girl with some junk in my trunk and my thighs are huge so it's hard for me to find pants that fit well already. I was thinking the overalls would be great since the waist is not like a normal pair of jeans. The waist was not the problem; it was the thighs. Barely being able to slide my thighs in them (thought I sized up here), the seam was cutting into my mid thigh so there was no way I would be comfortable sitting on my bike with them on. Exchanged them (paid almost $40 for shipping) for the next size up and I could barely tell they were any larger. They were however much longer and I had about a foot of fabric covering my feet. So again, I paid for shipping and just returned them. I wanted these to work so badly!!! I am giving Tobacco Motorwear one more try - I just bought the indigo jeans in the original size 30 since they have some give and it's recommended to size down. Fingers and toes crossed they work!!!
Similar to some other reviews I found the overalls to be too long in the inseam and too short in the torso. I am 5'7 and I had about 5" rolled up at the cuff and felt I could have used about 3 of those inches in the torso as I felt like they were being pulled down when I sat. I used the armor in the knees and I didn't even feel them or notice they were there, soft and flexible made wearing them comfortable. While they are not the most flattering on me and not the best fit, I will continue to use them (due to the cost) however, I'm not sure I'll buy any more women's clothing from here.
Can't lie, this is a killer pair of overalls, but they leave a lot to be desired in the shape of the body. I am 5'7, 33 in waist, 41 in hip, and definitely longer in the torso (which admittedly makes shopping for most kinds of pants a little challenging as a mid rise looks like a low rise on me, and a high rise a mid rise), and pretty fit and in shape. Per the sizing chart I initially ordered a smaller size and exchanged for a 32 after the smaller one didn't work. Unfortunately the size 32 don't fit either (meant for a 38in waist and 44in hip... my measurements are 33 and 41 come on.)They are so incredibly low rise feeling that when I sit in them and lean forward as I would on my bike, the belt band part of the Jean is literally sitting in my hip crease where my leg meets it, and the crotch is so low on me because I can't pull them up any higher over my hips. These guys really brag about how these are designed for women, and I'm pretty disappointed. These really should have been made in a true high rise style as they tend to not only be universally flattering, but universally able to fit over the hip and midsection on both short and long torso. And not to be sour grapes but at this point I don't want em because sizing up isn't going to fix the less than well thought design,, and don't care to do the whole return process over again, so I'm just gonna see if any of my other lady rider pals can make them work. Sorry, Tobacco!
