Flannels started as a comfortable but hard working shirt for hardworking men. But, not all flannels are created equal, cheap fabrics and cost saving construction results in a poorly made, bad looking shirt.

What makes a top tier flannel?

100% Brushed Cotton

Polyester locks in odor and heat. Unlike poly, 100% cotton breathes and is anti-microbial. It keeps you cool in the summer, and warm in the winter. Its super soft and extremely durable. You don't even need a wash between wears, air it and wear it!

Pattern Aligned

A sure fire way to spot a cheap flannel, the pattern at the side seams won't align. It takes extra care in the cutting and sewing to align the often complicated patterns on a flannel shirt. Call us OCD but we do it on the sides and the chest pockets!

The Strongest Seams

We use double-folded "caballo" chain-stitched seams. Many modern factories don't do shirts like this, the machines are expensive and take more time and skill to operate, but it is the strongest, cleanest way to make a flannel to stand the test of time.

Great shirt, quality construction

I recently bought the Highland Flannel, and love it. The fit is perfect for me, and the quality of construction of evident throughout. The pattern lines up perfectly at the buttons, and the pockets provide a nice visual. But really, it just fits, and is warm in our New England winter. This is the third flannel from Tobacco I’ve ordered (which includes the serape flannel my kid commandeered last year...), and I suspect not the last.

Shirt seems like great quality but it fits pretty snug for a large. I should have gone XL. Other than that feels super solid and looks great!

This is legitness

I'm a somalier of all things waxed canvas. This jacket is top rate. It's not really easy to find a lined waxed canvas that is comfortable out of the gate and feels bomb proof at the same time, but here we are and this is it. The lining is obviously of good quality, has great thickness to it. If you dig waxed canvas you can't go wrong!

Great shirt, quality and fit

Flannel shirts are all over the place for sizing. I wear one from various makers basically every day. Follow the size chart, get your size and you will not regret this shirt. The quality is great. The fabric feels really nice. Best part, I am tall and these talls sized shirts are tall enough for me. I am 6'5" and 260lbs and the XXL Tall is pretty much perfect
